Joe Bisicchia leaves no doubt in the minds of his readers that he has true create genius in his poems. The aptness of phrase and the verbal magic of the poems included in the poetry collection is  remarkably impressive.  The poems included in this poetry collection reveal  the poet’s simplicity, depth of emotions and fecundity.

The startling, poem “December 26,” captures the essence of Christmas with eloquent imagery and a heartfelt perspective. The opening lines, "Santa Claus has long left the building. How quickly spins away a nimbus?" set the tone for reflection on the passage of time. The use of "nimbus" as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of moments is particularly intriguing.

The phrase "Love's very nature" is a poignant representation of the core theme, highlighting the constant and unwavering nature of love. The reference to INRI, combined with the notion of extended arms, adds a layer of spiritual symbolism that enriches the poem's depth.

The line "paradise, with us, no matter the present day" resonates strongly, conveying the idea that the essence of Christmas, like a paradise, is always within reach, regardless of the current circumstances.

The use of language and metaphors effectively conveys the emotional depth and timeless nature of Christmas. However, there are moments where the flow could be slightly improved for a smoother reading experience. Consider refining the pacing and rhythm in certain sections.

Overall, the poem is a beautiful exploration of the lasting significance of Christmas and the enduring presence of love. It captures the essence of the season and leaves readers with a sense of hope and connection that transcends time.

Another remarkable poem ‘Evergreen’ continues to weave a tapestry of meaningful reflections, focusing on the enduring qualities of life, love, and Christmas. The opening lines paint a vivid contrast between the idea of something fading into the past and the resilient, evergreen nature of trust and belief.

Evergreen

Not a lingering past,

even if indeed it sprouts

all the ages now into the bygone.

Not a dying leaf on a tired, worn branch,

finally falling, but aimlessly lost.

Rather simply one of trust.

Of belief.

That life and love is this way evergreen.

And we may now just run like a rabbit.

Soar the wide opened sky like a gull.

Ever free in our amazing machinery.

Or, better yet, stay all this while here.

With our voices of Christmas cheer.

Not calling out for Jesus Barabbas,

but for the true Son of the Father.

With melody of heart-song

even in the supposed silence of night,

even in the supposed silence of light,

the ongoing awakening flicker,

the past, present and future.

Not just a dream.

Not just a Christmas tree.

But timelessness of togetherness.

This is our now.

And we now know forever to last,

as we welcome the presence as present,

the star atop the lights,

the sound of this.

With us, all around. (p. 10)

The imagery of a dying leaf on a tired branch falling aimlessly is powerful, symbolizing a lack of purpose and direction. This contrast is then beautifully juxtaposed with the concept of life and love being evergreen, suggesting their constant renewal and vibrancy.

The metaphors of running like a rabbit and soaring like a gull evoke a sense of freedom and boundless possibility, reflecting the essence of the holiday spirit.

The lines that follow, which encourage staying present and embodying the spirit of Christmas cheer, add a sense of warmth and togetherness. The reference to "Jesus Barabbas" and the "true Son of the Father" alludes to biblical narratives, enhancing the poem's spiritual depth.

The imagery of heart-song in the silence of night and light, along with the concept of an ongoing awakening flicker, resonates as a reminder of the subtle but continuous presence of love and hope.

The lines "Not just a dream. Not just a Christmas tree. But timelessness of togetherness." provide a resounding affirmation of the profound meaning found in the holiday season, extending beyond mere symbols to encompass a sense of unity and timeless connection.

The closing lines, "This is our now. And we now know forever to last, as we welcome the presence as present, the star atop the lights, the sound of this. With us, all around." beautifully encapsulate the central theme of the poem—the eternal nature of the holiday spirit and the encompassing presence of love and togetherness.

Overall, the poem is a wonderful exploration of the enduring significance of Christmas and the depth of the emotions it evokes. It captures the essence of timeless connection and the beauty of being present in the moment.

This book deserves 5 stars.  I’ll recommend it to all poetry readers to read this awesome book. WORTH READING.
