Duane L. Herrmann offers a somewhat spiritual and wondrous journey through poems in this new collection.  Poems range in style and form, but each one carries a life within the lines.  His poems are thoughtful and connected.  The poems resonate and radiate his sense of passion and care which is evident on each page.

The poems are seamlessly weaved together presenting memorable insights.  Topics range from power, words, dust, peace, nature and so much more.  His writings are fascinating and his writing style shows a deep passion for the poems he has composed.

Herrmann reaches into the heart of the poem (as indicated in the book’s title) and embarks upon a personal discovery of sorts towards and understanding.  It’s easy to recognize that this is a deep reach into poetry with lasting reverberations.

From the poem “Indwelling”:

You are in a cloud,
and yet,
you can see far.
There is nothing above you
or below you,
or anywhere around you:
just,
the cloud, which is not a cloud.
It is not a moisture cloud,
but tender, light, and loving.
Yes: loving.
The Cloud loves you.

Herrmann’s poems are wise and poignant.  Each poem is written with authenticity.  This book is graceful, but also a very readable poetry book.

“Zephyrs of the Heart” is a heart rendering portrait of an imperfect world full of hope, change, and resilience.

He creates his own landscape of poems in this book.  It is without a doubt, a glorious read.
