A Purity in Winter

A Purity in Winter

Author Name :D Everett Newell

The cold wind takes our breath away
Frigid is in our souls and the air
Walking brings a distinct cracking
Hard to get moving, my cement bones
Do not work, and I slip and slide
Yet I move on, longing for the sun
Four seasons are always a human test
We get to pass, four times a year
Now looking around, there are no
Green grasses, red yellow flowers
Life of the summer gone, our yard barren
There is a renewal of survival
Birds gather near our feeders
Squirrels underneath catching their spillage
Deer track deep abound in the snow
Our world is frozen, not dead
I see the beauty, a purity in winter
