Harvey’s poems invoke unexpected relationships in these thoughtful whimsical lines.  It’s easy to imagine infinite possibilities as he describes himself as an insect, communicating with birds or two women jogging talking to a bear.  From the poem “The Poem Grace Interrupted”:  There once was a planet who was both / sick and beautiful.  / Chemicals rode through her / that she did not put there. / Animals drowned in her eyeballs / that she did not put there —”  Harvey’s poems are a perfect blend of wrapping around the reader and the reader wrapping themselves around what he is saying!

About the Author

MIKKO HARVEY is the author of Unstable Neighbourhood Rabbit (House of Anansi, 2018), which was shortlisted for the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award, and the chapbook Idaho Falls (SurVision Books, 2019), which was written collaboratively with Jake Bauer. A graduate of Vassar College and The Ohio State University, he has received the RBC/PEN Canada New Voices Award and the Philip Booth Poetry Prize, as well as fellowships from MacDowell and Yaddo. He currently lives in Western Massachusetts.
