“Not all moments are disguised” is a line from one of Garebian’s poems in this collection.  He takes an artistic care with his thoughts and his words, but he is unwavering in their meaning.  He writes in his own style using an economy of words to get to the heart of each poem.  From the poem “Water”:  “Having been born near water, I have read / water. Shallow, deep, limpid, scummy, / foamy, amniotic, saline, subversive, / placid, psychic. Taken the waters.”  The poems are polished, passionate and melancholic.  He writes with such certainty.  Garebian’s voice is one worth discovering.
