Were There Gazelle by Laura K.Mcrae is a spectacular poetic collection entailing distinct vibes from all around the globe. The poems in the first part of the book, the dead are dead, describe the features of the earthly elements found across the world differently at different places. It starts with Bones of the Catherdal, where on a wintery night poet is somewhere at Dettah Ice Road, a northwest territory in Canada, and ends up at Village at Birsay where the poet sets a scene of the coming tides at the seashore of Birsay, Scotland. Out of the other three parts, two vividly express the beauty of India and Venice thereby giving an all-around view of the culture, climate and natural elements. The third one picks up the title of the book and captivates the reader. Conclusively, the book would be more suitable for the ones who want a close interaction with a particular place or location through the poet’s perspective.
