Romance Over Coffee Paperback – August 21, 2019 by L.S. Rathore (Author)

I feel Mr Rathore has a penchant towards Beverages, in general. His “Romance over Coffee” is just mind blowing. Hmmm…the smell of coffee has already entered my nostrils! So far, I have never come across a Writer who has written anything on Coffee. It’s a good combination of prose and poetry. It’s through his poems I have come to know the various types of coffee – “Rose, Cupid, Sizzling, Hearty, Moon-blanched, Hearts, Rose Blooming”, etc. A wide variety indeed! Just an imagination- if some Entrepreneur takes up his idea to offer this variety to the public. Now that will be an awesome business especially for the young as well as the middle aged and the older people. I

I am sure the business will rock!  Readers, try it, if interested.  But then you must thank Mr Rathore for that!

His own interpretation of the popular Hindi songs are a must read.  I firmly believe no one in the world can match a Poet’s imagination.  Every Poet has his/her own version of looking at things.  I must say, this task must have been difficult and his efforts need appreciation.  All emotions as in the songs have been truly captured in his poems.

“I will entreat her to take the first lick, Only then will I every drop sip, Lo! Even before I touched it, it gave me a delicious kick”.  Haha, this is what coffee is known for.  I admire the way in which Mr Rathore has woven words around this world famous drink.  I feel he has put “Coffee” on a pedestal and adorned it with a crown because drinking coffee has always added glamour to life in comparison to Tea.  Now a days, there are tea stalls in Maharashtra known as “Chai pe Charcha”.  I am sure something will come up in the world of coffee as well.  Moreover, he has been able to put in contrasting words as well. as he writes – “In all its nakedness and about, Coffee seemed to have no fineness and those who admired it were full of madness!”

His poem on “Monalisa” gives an altogether different dimension as I read – “Your expectant gaze slyly hints you are waiting for me.  To appear and shower rose petals on you cheerily”.  His writings on “The Power of Friendship” is surreal as he describes- “Only personal friends can realise the power of friendship in a way wise, This divine experience is so jovial that it appears caviar to the general.”  “To fill or not to fill” adds a dash of Philosophy while “Radha’s Flute, “The Divine Music”, “Persuasion”, “The Saffron Rose”, “Tota Myena”, “Radha’s Rose”, “The Mirror”. and “Older Brides”. are worth reading.  Writings on Love – “To my Muse”, “To my Dream Lady”, “Tabula Rasa” are some of his masterful strokes like any notable Painter.

Mr Rathore, I must applaud your grit and imagination in compiling this collection which I am sure will be a treat for the Readers.  I am looking forward to your next edition.  My best wishes to you and to the compilation and hope it travels across continents unfolding the Readers to a new world of “Coffee”.  Aap ke saath coffee to banti hai.  As and when possible, would like to meet you over a cup of coffee!
This is on a lighter note.

Best regards,

Shubhaangi Kundalkar
