Convenient Amnesia by Donald Vincent

Donald Vincent’s Convenient Amnesia stands as a work of art of orality and temporality in the prospering oeuvre that is his poetic showground. The verse pervades the pain and agony of blacks and depicts certain restrictions imposed on them. Poems of groan, yearning, anticipation, and light await readers in this collection. In One-Oh-One Section Eight each element speaks ironically as Algebra talking about filling taxes and writing checks, Biology says as well strongest is not the one to survive similarly for the others. No doubt flamboyant idealism is quite evident in Donald’s poetry and is up to the mark.

Algebra: let’s learn less about the functions of trigonometry 

and more about writing a check, filing taxes, 

and breaking down the economy. 

Biology: the strongest aren’t the only ones to survive, 

nor the smartest. So, we adapt to change and crime 

to live life beyond the limit and love it.

United We Stand leaves behind a quite noteworthy message. The author also opens up to provide some personal opinions on race through his artistic poetry.

Let’s send troops

to patrol

for petrol

to console

our country’s consumers.

Allow illegal immigrants

to work cheap

as appointed servants,

or kill the poor

as God’s hired henchman.

It has been aptly remarked in this collection that a true emotion in the right place inspires the words. Convenient Amnesia is a poetic collection of uncommon frankness, a poet of uncommon grace. This book Convenient Amnesia undoubtedly demonstrates Donald’s ability to texture an interesting poem out of the most controversial and biased events. Donald Vincent received his BA in Writing and Public Relations at Loyola University Maryland and MFA in Poetry from Emerson College. He is also known as Mr. Hip, a music recording artist with
