At the outset, I must applaud Mr Ian Pinto’s imagination and his approach used for penning down the wonderful poems.

A realization dawned upon me as I read them – “Ian indeed is a true Messenger of God!” His understanding about Spirituality is much evident in his poems on Mary, Mercy, Praying Hands, and When I met Jesus. I would urge the readers to pay special attention to – “In faith if I cling to Him, in moments dreary and dark, His grace will lift me, and help me sing like a lark”, the lines he has penned in his poem on Faith.

A realization dawned upon me as I read them – “Ian indeed is a true Messenger of God!”   His understanding about Spirituality is much evident in his poems on MaryMercy, Praying Hands, and When I met Jesus.  I would urge the readers to pay special attention to – “In faith if I cling to Him, in moments dreary and dark,  His grace will lift me, and help me sing like a lark”, the lines he has penned in his poem on Faith.

Let’s fix the leaking tap, switch of the burning light; Join our hands to give our kids, a future that is bright” – such meaningful lines which have a lot of depth in them in Ian’s writing about Our Responsibility.  The readers too will agree that when we speak about life, the first thing that should come to everyone’s mind is “Responsibility”.

Few more lines which mesmerized me were – “I fail to understand, how a being so complex, could emerge from a fusion of two cells, how an act of love could give rise, to someone capable of loving and being loved” in his verse on Life  These lines will surely connect the readers with his curiosity on the God-gifted process of Birth.

The treacherous happening that Asifa had to go through is very sensitively captured in Asifa’s Song which will surely bring tears to the readers and marvel at Ian’s thought process.  For a minute I felt, had Asifa lived, she would have expressed the same feelings and there would never be enough words to console her agony and pain.

The readers, I am sure will love to read his verses on Difficulty in GivingQuestions,  My Grandmother where he expresses the love and warmth that he shares with his Grandmother, and Ambiguous Existence which shows his care for mankind.   More so,  the fusion of words and Ian’s imagination in each of his poems is the perfect symphony which he has created in his collection – Pen Downs.  The title of the book also is so appropriate!  Through his writings, Ian has let out variety of fragrances enclosed in a marvelous bouquet covering topics on Nature, Spirituality, Mankind, Social issues, etc.  The illustration depicted by way of colourful paintings definitely have given more life to his poems.

Ian, this is wishing you all the very best, and I hope you will continue this process of writing and expression.  May your book travel across continents and capture several hearts and set them thinking!
